News: nicolo reaches a real milestone: 1000 finds! PDF Print E-mail

Yup, that's right, our good friend from Calgary nicolo reached this important milestone this weekend.  Good thing he has Edmonton to help him achieve this goal as he probably swiped Calgary clean of all unfound caches.  He now comes to Edmonton, every so often, to satisfy his hunger for new cache & caps!  Please join me in congratulating nicolo for this awesome achievement.

Local cache databases are time savers
Geocaching.com offers a way to search through their database of caches as well as ways to download them to your computer and, with the right software, into your GPS receiver.  There is a better way to manage your caches by downloading them from the site and maintaining them into a local database.  Such database helps you quickly search, filter, view, edit caches localy on your computer,  They can also upload the waipoints into your GPS receivers and export the waypoint database to other formats, such as Groundspeak's .loc or .gpx format or even Garmin MapSource's .mps format.

One of the best known geocaching management program is GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife) and can be downloaded and tried for free from http://gsak.net/
